Our 2025-2026 Faculty Lunch & Learn Series continues with the Rev. Dr. Reed Carlson presenting:  Encountering Spirits in the Bible

Spirit encounters in scripture often reflect complex ideas about human and divine subjectivity, materiality, and agency. Such texts often transgress modern disciplinary borders, merging, for example, categories that we might consider separate, including medicine, spirituality, and metaphysics. This Lunch & Learn session introduces some of the conventions of spirit discourse in biblical texts, focusing on how spirit language is used to cultivate God's presence in select examples from both the Old and New Testaments.
